The first time I pressed play on this new album was sometime early June this year. It’s November now and the Beyonce team has released over five tracks to the public. I had forgotten about this album until a few days ago when Carmina and I were youtubing around. One music video after another, this megastar has produced visuals faster than your mind can imaginely create. The music videos were released simultaneously and I’m kinda upset that she decided to do this and revert back to “Bday” style. Perhaps because she’s pregnant and she’s trying to get all work done for this album before she gets bigger and pop before the charts. Or maybe her work is just that fleeting and we just can’t keep up. I am still a sucker for contemporary music and although, the radio is rapidly killing this likeness, I continue to follow what’s hot and what’s not. Beyonce’s music from her fourth album, creatively titled “4,” gets a thumbs up for me. Music videos, not so much. But anyways, artists are not there to entertain your eyes so I give this album a lot of support. Cons: lyrically poor. Pros: written and produced exceptionally fresh. Take a listen to the track “Party” and you will see what I mean. Funk? Soul? Smooth groove? I have no idea. That song is nothing relatively similar to any other songs out there. And how the hell do you write a tune with those instrumentals? With a room full of experts: Yeezy, Doug E. Fresh, Consequence, Kraven, Slick Rick, 3000, and of couse, your girl, B. I like it a lot! One of my favorites, along with “I Miss You,” “Rather Die Young,” and “Love on Top.” This is a very much late promotion, but go grab a copy of Beyonce’s recent CD instead of Katy Perry’s or Rihanna’s.
